When you speak of self interested politicians, the lastest self-serving public "servant" of the day would have to be the "wannabe Hillary" LT Governor of Pennsylvania, Ms. Catherine Baker Knoll.
It seems that this one politician just couldn't turn down an opportunity to make a political statement. She only crashed the funeral of slain Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Joseph Goodrich, asked around who and where the family was, and passed out business cards during communion. To make matters even worse, she told the family " I just want you to know I attend 90 per cent of these functions and our government is against this war," If you don't believe me, here's the links to "real" news stories, two different sources, no less:

The late SSG's sister-in-law, puts it rather plainly:
"We were sitting there and Catherine Baker Knoll sat down, handed her a business card and said I just want you to know I attend 90 per cent of these functions and our government is against this war," said Goodrich's sister in law Rhonda Goodrich."It's been pretty hard to deal with just to think that an elected official of Pennsylvannia would show up at a heroe's funeral and pretty much make it like he died in vain."
Functions? Unlike the late Paul Wellstone, Ms. Knoll, this is a funeral, not a political rally!
The Governor, claiming a sense of outrage a day earlier, seems that his ardor has cooled somewhat over this genuine act of bad taste and self-interest. He states, "Let me be clear, it's not the business of the state to support the war or whatever, but we do support the men and women, whether they are national guardsman, reserves or on active duty."
Ummm, it IS the business of the state to support a war, my freind. I understand that your generation's response to your country at war is to retreat, surrender, and hide out in the college of your choice, but we are actually engaged in a world war right now. It is precisely the actions of linguini spined persons like yourself that encourages our enemies to attack! Although the Constitution expressly prohibits the states from declaring war, it does not prohibit the support to the national effort. More of this, "We support the troops, but not the mission" crap. The two are INSEPERABLE, Governor.
If I were a betting man, and I am not, these same politicians in their smug sense of self-importance, will just move along and bank that the voters of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will just forget about it. If they do, and these clowns remain in office, then the people of Pennsylvania surely get what they deserve.
Where are the statesmen, or at least those who remember their oath of office "to protect and defend the Constitution?"
Rhino 21, out.
